Deep down I knew that in order to grow my business, I had to be visible. But as someone who’s more comfortable getting together with people I already know than with purposefully going out to meet new people, this was a stretch. The seemingly idle small-talk which fluttered around networking events, especially with the end goal of advancing my business, felt disingenuous. Plus, I wasn’t very good at it.
I craved authenticity in my interactions. And because I also tended to get overwhelmed in large groups of people I didn’t know, trying to engage in small-talk often left me feeling depleted and discouraged, not energized. Also unsure about marketing myself as an expert, I held back from public notice.
So for a long time rather than doing what I needed to do to bring visibility to my business, I lived in a state of “invisibility.” But instinctively, I knew I had a valuable skill others needed. I also had the awareness writing and helping others get their books published was my destiny – and it nagged at me incessantly.
I’d founded LegacyONE Authors with the goal of helping aspiring thought leaders broaden their influence through authorship. And I’d seen how having an ExpertBook ™ had strengthened my subject experts’ professional influence. So I wanted to share my expertise to help others. This meant I had no choice – I had to “buck up” and get out there or “vanish,” overcome my negative mindset about myself and thrive.
The first article I ever wrote was on the healing power of writing – and this God-given ability has been with me ever since. As a matter of fact, it’s defined my career. When you have the desire to write, it’s your calling. And it stays with you forever. And if you’re willing to make the true commitment to do it, that is when the real magic happens.
The voice to write can be especially strong if you know what you want to share will help others. Moreover, it’s essential you do it right away – because if you have a brilliant idea, if you don’t write the words about it down soon, your brilliant moment will disappear and be gone forever.
“But I don’t have time,” you may protest. “With all the other obligations I have, I’m too exhausted to write. I have too many interruptions.” Stop standing in your own way!
I know how easy it is to do – I’ve been there. But publishing a book will bring heightened credibility to your brand. And if you want to be a thought leader, establishing credibility is a huge piece of getting there.
Many professionals understand the importance of writing a book and sharing their expertise but get bogged down in the process of actually doing it. There are myriad reasons why you may feel stymied writing your Expert Book™. But these blocks are self-induced and can be overcome.
I’ve worked with over 50 authors and have seen firsthand the main five blocks they encounter when writing. Having also experienced these blocks myself, I’ve developed a proven methodology for moving through them.
LegacyONE Authors can help you navigate the challenges of your writing project from start to finish, making sure your book gets to print. We help you with time management and keep your writing on track. If needed, we’ll even write your book for you. You oversee it – we write it. How you decide to write it is up to you. We just help you get it done – and we’ll be there to encourage you every step of the way
